Shopping for golf communities in Naples means sorting out two questions that sound alike but are not: where the course is, and how you get onto it. In some gated neighborhoods, club membership comes with the deed. In others it is a separate purchase, and in a few the course is open to public play. Our editors went through the Naples guides that include golf and grouped them by the membership model each guide actually documents.
How Golf Is Organized in Naples Gated Communities
Most Naples golf neighborhoods run on two layers. A homeowners association or property owners association governs the streets, gates and common areas. A separate club, often with its own board and bylaws, runs the course and clubhouse. Treviso Bay, TwinEagles and Quail Creek all describe this split: the golf operation is a different organization from the residential association.
That split is why two homes a few streets apart can carry very different monthly costs. It also means the HOA documents will not tell you everything about golf. You need the club’s membership documents too.

Fourteen Naples guides on our site list golf. Twelve have a course inside the community. Two do not, and we cover those near the end so you do not spend a weekend touring them for golf.
Naples Golf Communities Grouped by Membership Model
The groups below use only what each guide states. Where a guide does not name a model, we say so and point you to the club.
Bundled or Included Membership
Esplanade Golf & Country Club of Naples is described as bundled-golf for most homes, with an 18-hole Kipp Schulties course that opened in 2014. Some homes carry social or sports memberships instead, so the guide says to verify the category property by property.
Treviso Bay uses a two-tier structure. Homes designated as golf residences carry a mandatory bundled equity membership in the Treviso Bay Golf Club, which operates the TPC Treviso Bay course. The remaining homes are social or non-golf and share the clubhouse, pools and tennis without golf.
Equity Membership
Quail West has two 18-hole championship courses (36 holes, Arthur Hills, opened 1996) owned and operated by Quail West Golf & Country Club, an equity club. Pelican Marsh has one 18-hole Robert von Hagge course, opened in 1994, and the guide describes a member-owned equity club.
The club publishes its own information on its official club website. In an equity club, members own a share of the club itself. That usually shapes what you pay to join and what happens to that payment when you sell. The guides do not give those terms, so ask.
Optional Membership, Sold Separately
The Vineyards is the clearest example. Vineyards Country Club is a non-equity club open to residents and non-residents, and membership is optional. The North and South courses are both 18 holes.
Mediterra has two Tom Fazio-designed 18-hole courses and a private beach club on the Gulf at Bonita Beach. Its guide says golf is not mandatory and memberships are sold separately from the home. The member-owned club caps golf memberships at roughly 450.
Public Play Inside the Community
Lely Resort has three courses. Flamingo Island (Robert Trent Jones Sr.) and Mustang (Lee Trevino) are open to public play, while The Classics (Gary Player) is a private member course. The master association owns the community amenities, and Lely Resort Golf & Country Club operates the golf.
Private or Limited Membership, Terms Not Stated
Several guides confirm golf but do not name a model beyond private or member-owned. For these, treat the membership structure as a question for the club.
- Grey Oaks has three courses, the Pine, Palm and Estuary, run by a private country club. The POA governs the residential common areas.
- Audubon Country Club has one Joe Lee-designed 18-hole course, with golf membership limited to about 340.
- Talis Park has a par-72 course by Greg Norman and Pete Dye, renovated in 2023.
- Quail Creek has the Quail and Creek courses, run by the member-owned Quail Creek Country Club.
- TwinEagles has the Talon (a Jack Nicklaus Signature course) and the Eagle (Steve Smyers), operated by The TwinEagles Club. Its guide says membership structures change over time and tells buyers to confirm the category and dues for a specific home.

What to Ask a Golf Club Before You Buy in Naples
Club terms are set by each club and change, so we do not print prices here. Get the current answers in writing, and ask for the club bylaws, membership agreement and latest budget before you make an offer. A seller’s agent may know the basics, but only the club can state its current rules. The golf section of our guide lists courses if you want to compare the layouts themselves.
- Initiation or capital contribution. Is there a one-time fee to join, is it tied to the home, and is any part refundable when you sell?
- Annual dues. What do dues cover, and how have they changed over the past few years?
- Food and beverage minimums. Is there a required spend, and does it reset each season?
- Tee-time access. How far ahead can members book, and do guests or non-resident members compete for the same slots?
- Cart fees. Are carts included, and is there a trail or cart fee per round?
- Reciprocal play. Can members play other clubs, and under what terms?
- Special assessments. Has the club approved or discussed any for course or clubhouse work?
Also ask whether the membership category attaches to the specific home. At Treviso Bay, two homes in the same community can fall in different categories, and at Esplanade the guide advises verifying per property.
Two Naples Guides With No Golf Course
Two communities show up in golf searches but have no course. Winding Cypress is built around a resort-style pool, tennis, pickleball and an 800-plus-acre preserve with boardwalk and trails, and its guide states there is no golf course. Naples Reserve is a lakefront community whose guide also states there is no golf course. Golf there means a drive to a course elsewhere.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is golf membership required in a Naples gated community?+
It depends on the community and sometimes on the home. Treviso Bay requires a bundled equity membership on golf-designated homes only. The Vineyards makes membership optional. For communities where our guides do not state a model, ask the club.
Can I play golf in Naples without joining a private club?+
In our guides, Lely Resort has two courses, Flamingo Island and Mustang, open to public play. The Vineyards also admits non-residents as members. Check each club’s current guest and public-play policy.
Are any Naples golf communities age-restricted?+
None of the Naples guides covered here document an age restriction. Each guide reviewed here reports no age restriction from official sources (Treviso Bay describes itself as not deed age-restricted). Confirm with the association’s governing documents if it matters to you.
What is the difference between an equity and non-equity club?+
An equity club is owned by its members, so joining gives you an ownership interest. In a non-equity club, members pay to use the facilities but do not hold an ownership share. Ask the club how exits and resales are handled.
Visit our Naples community guides for each community’s golf details and governance, then request the current membership documents from any club on your shortlist before you tour.
