We are an independent directory of Southwest Florida gated communities. We are not affiliated with any homeowners association, community developer, government agency, or the businesses listed unless expressly stated.

What we collect

We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the site.

When you use our contact, corrections, or “request help finding a provider” forms: the details you type into the form (name, email address and, where asked, phone number and message). We ask for nothing more than the form needs. We use your email only to respond to that request. If we identify a provider for you, we name that business and ask you again before sharing your contact details with anyone.
Automatic/technical data: like most websites, our host and content-delivery layer process standard request data (e.g., IP address, browser type, pages requested) to serve pages, prevent abuse, and keep the site secure. Our form uses a privacy-preserving, one-way hashed key of your email and IP solely to rate-limit submissions; we do not store your raw IP or email for that purpose.
Cookies and analytics: our host and caching layer may set essential/functional cookies needed for the site and forms to work. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used in aggregate (pages viewed, general location, device type); Google Analytics sets its own cookies and processes that data under Google’s privacy policy. We do not run advertising pixels or sell behavioral data.
Spam protection: our forms are protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which is subject to the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Sponsor checkout: businesses that purchase a sponsored placement enter payment details directly with Stripe; we never see or store card numbers. Address fields on that form use Google Places autocomplete.

We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

How we use information

To respond to your provider request and, only with a further OK from you, to connect you with a named business.
To operate, secure, and improve the site.
To comply with law.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

Public-records content

Much of our editorial content (HOA of record, tax/CDD data, licenses, etc.) is drawn from public records — e.g., county property appraiser and GIS data, the Florida DBPR, The Florida Bar, and Sunbiz. That is information about communities and businesses, not about site visitors, and it is sourced and cited on the page.

Service providers

We rely on a small set of vendors to run the site — our U.S.-based managed web-hosting provider (hosting) and Postmark (the email service that delivers our replies and form notifications). They process data only to provide those services.

Your choices and rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you. Because we retain so little, most requests are simple. Contact us at info@southwestfloridagatedcommunities.com.

Security & retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the request that prompted it, then delete it. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure.

Changes

We may update this policy; we will change the effective date above and, for material changes, note it on the site.
