About Worthington

Worthington is a gated community of 799 homes in Bonita Springs. Day to day, the nearest golf course, Worthington Country Club, is about 0.1 miles straight-line from the community's center; the nearest library, Bonita Springs Public Library, is about 3 miles away; the nearest hospital, NCH Healthcare Bonita, about 6.6 miles.

Amenities — amenities compiled from the Worthington Country Club and Bonita Springs market materials (confirm current amenities and membership terms with the club); Worthington is a member-owned BUNDLED golf community — include a gated entry on roughly 328 acres, an 18-hole Ron Garl-designed championship golf course (bundled — golf privileges come with every home), Har-Tru tennis courts, plus pickleball and bocce, a resort-style main pool with cabana (six community pools in all), plus a spa/jacuzzi, a fitness center, a renovated grill room and bar with casual and fine dining.

On paper, the community spans evacuation zones C · D. The average assessed just value across its 808 residential parcels was $349,673 in the county's 2026 roll.

Two things shape day-to-day life at Worthington more than the amenity list. The first is cost structure: unlike the CDD-financed communities that fill much of the newer Fort Myers and Estero market, Worthington carries no community development district, so the recurring public charges on a sampled bill come down to City of Bonita Springs stormwater and Lee County solid waste rather than a multi-thousand-dollar CDD assessment. The second is bundled golf — and it cuts both ways. Because club membership is attached to the home rather than sold separately, every owner has guaranteed access to the Ron Garl course, which suits people who intend to play; it also means you help fund the member-owned club whether or not you ever tee off. That trade-off, more than any single feature, is what a prospective buyer should weigh first.

It also helps to understand how Worthington is put together, because the names can be confusing on a listing search. The community is not only detached single-family homes: a large share of its roughly 799 residences sits in villa and coach-home enclaves branded Wedgewood and Waterford. Those carry their own neighborhood names but fall under the single Worthington Master Association, which has governed the community since the early 1990s. So a home marketed as "Wedgewood" or "Waterford" is still a Worthington home, under the same master.

A couple of practical notes for anyone getting serious: Worthington's footprint crosses more than one evacuation and storm-surge zone simply because of its size, so confirm the zone for the specific address rather than for the community as a whole. And because membership terms, dues and cart policies at a member-owned club change over time, verify the current specifics with the association before you rely on them.
